Enhancing mental health and well-being for students and staff |
Miller School has a very comfortable culture, each student is greeted by name every morning. They are cared for. We respond directly when any issues or concerns emerge. Through Our School data we know our students value more than just learning in the classroom. They seek ex curricular activities and learning outside the 4 walls. Miller is working to respond to the needs of our 'new' older students. |

New Phys Ed equipment to meet the needs of older students. Library resources Infrastructure that is size and age appropriate for K-6. |
Offering safe and inviting facilities |
THIS IS LARGE PRIORITY FOR MILLER, facilities has been out to start this process but we have a way to go. Miller School recognizes that our facilities are not suitable for housing the learning resources and day to day supplies. Miller also realizes that we do not have 'break out' space suitable for meeting with stakeholders and working with students in interventions. Miller School is adding more equipment to our playground. |
Miller has been in contact with GSSD facilities. Miller seeks to add a storage space above the current storage space. Miller seeks to renovate exisiting smaller breakout areas into a larger breakout area. P. Morrison is involved. Miller SCC has secured numerous grants to install a new piece of playground equipment. First of which goes in Oct 2023. These pieces are inclusive pieces for students of all needs. Miller SCC will also add more concrete and sand for accessibility and safety.

Inviting the Indigenous Community Worker into the school and developing a relationship with them to see how they could best support our school. Utilizing the ICW to bring in guests to showcase cultural elements such as drumming, dancing, games, languages, artwork. Ensuring our School and Classroom Libraries have a variety of Indigenous stories, Indigenous authors, features Indigenous characters and other Indigenous content. Including Indigenous worldviews when teaching subject content such as science, health, phys.
