Improving student outcomes |
80% of students from K-Grade 4 who are considered "at risk" for attendance by January 2025 will increase their attendance by 2%.

Plan: Support parent's uneasiness about school by having an open door policy and allowing them to join their children at school from time to time; For example on Early Dismissal days invite parents to come from 12:45- 1:30 and join for activities such as PBL, buddy reading, guest readers, math games, share some skills, science inquiry, social studies research -Monthly attendance meetings with Superintendent, Principal, School Counsellor and Indigenous Community Worker -Classroom teachers, Admin., Admin. Assistant and ICW contacting families through Seesaw, Edsby and by phone. Asking how we can support getting students to school. -Agreement with Keeseekoose and Cote First Nations to pay for hot lunches for students on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays. |

Grade 4 Safety Patrol 7 Sacred Teachings Assemblies: -A character trait is being focused on each month. -Grade 4 students share announcements each day. -Grade 4 students help deliver Hot Lunches

Victoria students will participate in opportunities around land based education, developing language and cultural teachings.

October 2024: Grade 2-4 participated in land based teachings at Madge Lake ICW classroom teaching around treaties connecting it to curriculum outcomes. Drumming for boys in Grade 2-4 each Wednesday led by Ricky Kitchemonia Language teachings from Clifford Crane-Cultural Coordinator from YTC Storytelling-classes attended GSSD storytelling events over zoom in February. Victoria school hosting a live storyteller on March 10th. March 11th-Grandma Sherry came to share a story with our K-4 students. March 19th-Grade ¾ and 4 classes went on a field trip to see the Buffalo at Cote First Nation. This invitation was extended by Chief George Cote. May and June-Landbased Camps with Mr. Clifford Crane at Madge Lake for all classes Grade 1-4 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. |

Offering safe and inviting facilities |
By June 2025, Victoria School will offer inclusive environments for students to transition to the school day. |
-A sensory room has been created to support students with regulation. -The play based classroom has been created to support student learning based on individual needs. -The cultural room is a space for students to meet with the Indigenous Community Worker and participate in cultural teachings. -The caretaker and nutrition worker have supported students needing a regulation break or as a positive event for students throughout the year. -The Environmental Walkthrough was completed with school staff and the SCC in January 2025. Please see attached document for ideas/suggestions and plan. During the 2024-2025 school year, Administration and staff will support the mental health and well being of each other by providing breaks to the support staff and teachers when situations arise where time away is needed to allow the person time to debrief, rest and relax from a stressful situation. |

Offering time for student choice each week. Creating a monthly time for students to actively engage with a variety of students within our school. Genius Hour Takes place monthly. Weekly Friday Assemblies In Motion walks Grade 1-4 had the opportunity to participate in school skating this year. Grade 1 and 4 classes are Writing Buddies this year. Grade 1-4 participate in Reading Buddies weekly. Our School Survey will be administered to gather data around students' sense of belonging in Grade 4. Dance SK spent 3 Days with us on March 17,18,19. Led by Jhonnette Derkatch students learned the Tinkling Dance from the Philippines. |

GSSD Board Policies will be reviewed at each regular board meeting. Updates and revisions will be tracked, and the newly revised policies will be communicated to the sector using the From the Board Report. Victoria School staff will review policies and procedures throughout the school year.

Focusing on educational approaches that prioritize student success |
Starting September 2024, all teachers Kindergarten to Grade 3 will continue to use the UFLI program daily to support literacy success in the areas of phonemic awareness and phonics.
By June 2025, 80% of students will meet grade level expectations in the area of number sense.
By June 2025, 20% of students scoring yellow or red in the fall 2024 EYE testing will score green in the spring EYE testing.

By June 2025, Victoria School will have technology devices to provide 1:1 access to students. We will purchase 10 new ipads for student use.

Fostering connections and supporting transitions |
During the 2024-2025 school year, students will be greeted each morning inside and outside by designated supervisors to complete daily check ins.

Each morning: -Students are greeted by adults at the main entrance. -Students are supported to go for breakfast, to morning program and or outside for recess. -Students needing a soft landing are able to go to the sensory room as needed. -Victoria School is grateful to be a CSCH grant recipient to continue to provide a strong nutrition program for our students.

Our School Survey was completed by Grade 4 students in the Fall of 2024. Areas of growth included creating a sense of belonging. This area is focused on in our SLP this year. Celebration of Learning/Student Led Conferences were held March 19th and 20th. June 5th-Grade 3 Cultural Fair June 6th-Interschool Pow Wow at Chief Gabriel Education Centre. June 6th-Prek Graduation June 16th-Soup and Bannock Family Event May and June 2025-Classes out in the community.
