Enhancing mental health and well-being for students and staff |
Students in grades 4-9 will participate in “Snacks and Chats". Once a month, students will be given the opportunity to engage with their grade-alike peers on a non-academic task (ie: teambuilding, problem solving, creative outlets, etc…) while enjoying a healthy snack provided by the school. This activity aims to give students the chance to be with age-similar peers without the added complexities that arise with multi-graded classrooms. |
After attending the Mental Health Literacy professional development, it was decided that the topics explored during snacks and chats will align with the Big 5 To Thrive (exercise, sufficient sleep, positive supportive relationships, healthy nutrition, helping others). These activities are meant to be engaging but also to share information about ways that students can improve or protect their mental health in a non-academic setting. |
S.Campbell K.Haylock |
Our SLC will financially support the purchase of snacks on a monthly basis. A donation of popcorn towards this program was made by a local community member. |
|
Enhancing mental health and well-being for students and staff |
The school will continue to order monthly hot lunches from the local community daycare. Federal funding for nutrition programs will be allocated to reduce the overall cost of these meals for all students. |

Students requiring supports in literacy will be identified and will have access to UFli, Heggerty, Rime Magic, Phonics Companion, etc... when appropriate. We recognize that there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution, and so we will be flexible in our approach and with the resources that we utilize. |
A variety of different resources are used for Tier 1 instruction, including UFli, Heggerty, Rime Magic and others. When Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction was required, the U of A intervention was used. |
