Upholding clear, high-quality Board of Education Policies |
MCS is committed to the Assessment and Attendance Policies of GSSD. MCS will implement Academic Quarters and align with the new Attendance procedures. |
Many students that are under-achieving fall into a pattern of procrastination followed by the submission of assignments weeks or even months after the due dates. Faulty expectations around Credit Recovery and a lack of rigorous deadline policy contributed. Attendance: -Utilize the RTI team and the CLEVR RTI Referral process to support chronic attendance. --This year's RTI was great. Members had an all in mind set. Kids needs were brought to the attention of the group by teaching staff. As a gorup we did what we could to help kids with their learning. -Increase accountability through descriptive absences entered on Edsby. --Many teachers and admin were in constant contact witih parents and students. We however didn't have all staff on board with communications. -Observation notes about attendance on Edsby to communicate universally about attendance. – Yes they were on going thoughout the year. -Proactive Strategies such as Bell Ringers universally deployed. --A few teachers used Bell Ringers as a experiment in their classes. The result was very good. (Ms. Roach) Academic Quarters: -Students informed about the 4 deadline dates at the opening assembly. --Yes we did. Also the dates were share with staff, students and parents. When deadline was close it was also sent out in a reminder. We saw the Academic Quarter as a good reminder for student to get item in. -Communication to students: reminders of missing work, AQ dates, DT and lunch help opportunities. --Lot of communication through Edsby and with teacher reminders. --LEL was a success we feel. -Students at risk identified to Admin so additional support and/or timetable changes can be made. --Teachers who brought students to our attention were identified and were assigned to Grad coaches etc. |
-RTI Team, Classroom teachers, Administrative Team. |
-RTI Referral Form on CLEVR. -Attendance and Assessment APs. -Edsby Observation. |
