Focusing on educational approaches that prioritize student success. By June 30, 2024, 25% more students will exit Kindergarten at appropriate development (green) than when entering Kindergarten. By June 30, 2023, there will be 10% more Grades 1 to 3 reading at or above grade level as compared to fall 2022 data. By June 30, 2024, there will be 10% more Grades 1 to 3 reading at or above grade level as compared to fall 2023 data. By June 30, 2024, at least 50% of students in Grades 4 and 7 will be writing at or above grade level. By June 30, 2024,72% of students in Grades 2, 5, and 8 at or above level in math. |
*Administer Early Years Evaluation (EYE) and analyze results to develop areas of instructional focus and to conduct appropriate interventions. *The Phonological Awareness Skills Hierarchy and Action Plan serves as a reference to reach learning targets. *CR teacher will use “Literacy Beginnings – Kindergarten” as MIR. Additional Resource – “Kindergarten Phonological Goals and Strategies”, will also be used. Allocating resources to improve experiences for students, staff, and the community |
School budget is largely consumed by academic supplies, major programs and resources to support student learning, and technology. Professional Development Days - GSSD presentations, modules, and de-centralized school budgets provide opportunities for professional development and growth. Support SCC initiatives re: playground, etc. in any way possible. |
Priorities are reflected in school budget allocations and expenditures prior to the end of the school year. Springside School Community Council sponsors the "One School, One Book" program, which is launched in January 2024. The SCC is raising funds for school playground equipment.

Treaty Education is taught using grade-level OTC resources. Orange Shirt Day Classroom Activities and Learning Experiences and Program/Lunch held September 29, 2023. Seven Grandfather Teachings art installation - project administered by Oystrick, Wilson, and Castle. Each classroom will complete a canvas/wood painting that depicts the Cree word/animal/land with the word and teaching associated with it. The works are to be finished and installed by the subcommittee. The project is due for completion in December. Classroom Storybooks - pages/illustrations will be translated to Cree. Each student completes a page for a classroom book. They are compiled into books and will serve as school resources. Books to be made from January through March 2024. Alyssa Lerat leads Bannock-Making Education Station on October 18, 2023). She is sharing the Talking Stick teaching with Grade 2/3 in winter. They will create Talking Sticks after and during the teaching. Circle of Courage philosophy is explored and refreshed among staff, communicated to students.

Orange Shirt Day Program: Residential school survivor Alyssa Lerat spoke about her experiences and she and her daughter Karys presented and taught the custom of offering food to those who have passed before us. She is taking the offering to the land and praying to those who have passed. Students were generous in their responses and contributions.

Enter at least one staff member and two students into the GSSD Featured person of the month. School level - Elected SRC is in second year of operation. Students are taught leadership traits and have opportunities to carry them out. SRC activities to include K-5 Carnival (October), Math Carnival (February) Star Buddies - students are paired so that older students provide leadership, friendship, and support to younger students at various school events and activities. EA nominated for Sea Star Recognition due to outstanding work and dedication to enhance school climate. SST piloting UFLI with intervention groups, will extend to Grade 1 by next year. Grade 2/3 teacher piloting "Bug Club Morphology". Three teachers serve as AP to build leadership capacity in the building. Learning Walks conducted by Admin. to inform and involve parents of the quality of education for students at SS. |
