Focusing on educational approaches that prioritize student success |
By June 2024, all teachers Kindergarten to Grade 4 will use the UFLI program daily to support literacy success.
By June 2024, 80% of students reading below and approaching grade level will increase 2 levels. By June 2024, 80% of students will meet grade level expectations in the area of number sense.
By June 2024, 20% of students scoring yellow or red in the fall 2023 EYE testing will score green in the spring EYE testing.

October 16, 2023-All literacy teachers K-4 have taken professional development training around implementing UFLI either online or with Susan Robertson-Curriculum Consultant Nov. 23rd-Early Dismissal PD Focus on Tier One Instruction-Moving to Structured Literacy RTI meeting-Jan.15th to review literacy data January 29th-Susan Robertson and Kendra Simon completed UFLI walkthroughs with all teachers to ensure the program is running with fidelity and to support any questions teachers still have regarding delivering the program. June 17th-teacher meeting with Susan Robertson to go over our literacy plan moving into 2024-2025. -Early Dismissal Professional Development Days to support Tier One instruction F&P Assessment: -According to our spring data, students reading below grade level on average increased 2.21 levels. -According to our spring data, students from Grade 1-4 increased their reading levels 3.23 levels. Goal Achieved. Number Sense: As of Term 2, 77% of students from grade 1-4 were meeting or exceeding grade level expectations in the number sense outcomes reported. Awaiting Spring data EYE Data: 10 students were identified as red or yellow in the Fall. As of May 13, 2024 4/10 students or 40% of students are now green according to the spring EYE testing. Goal achieved.

-The majority of classes with the exception of K and Grade 1 have 1:1 devices. -A school plan is being developed on how to continue to move toward 1:1 devices for students. -Teachers, school librarian, admin. and technology consultants are taking inventory and developing a request for devices for the 2024-2025. -Victoria School will be receiving 7 new Ipads. The N23 chromebooks will need to be replaced. |

Enhancing mental health and well-being for students and staff |
By 2024, Victoria School will implement a school wide Social Emotional Learning curriculum. -Data collection from Our School.

During the 2023-2024 school year, Administration and staff will support the mental health and well being of each other by providing breaks to the support staff and teachers when situations arise where time away is needed to allow the person time to debrief, rest and relax from a stressful situation. |

Weekly Monday Morning Assemblies to work on Social Emotional Learning and regulation. Staff SEL Team-Kim Chutskoff, Nicky Ruf, Leanne Fissel, Rayne Chorneyko, Kendra Simon-PD session for pilot program Feb.5th, April 9th, June 10th. The SEL team will help prioritize a goal around diversity for the 2024-2025 school year. The SEL team has been sharing information at monthly staff meetings around learning to support student and staff wellness. Victoria School had an increase in counsellor time from .5 to .7 this year. The counsellor has created small group sessions with students to teach social skills and regulation strategies. The rider reading program came to Victoria School on April 18 ,2024 Monday Morning Assembly-4 Elements Team Building Play Day 2024 |

In order to provide the daycare a temporary home this school year, this work plan will be revisited in the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Chutskoff, Ms. Rayne and Mrs. Hudye greet students and families indoors each morning. Mrs. Simon greets students outdoors each morning. The sensory room is a soft landing space for students each morning if needed. Students have the opportunity to eat breakfast there as well. Mrs. Chutskoff and Mrs. Simon provide daily supervision outdoors at the end of each school day to connect with students and families. Mrs. Thomsen has created a quiet room for students to use in the library. |

GSSD is working with Cote/Keeseekoose FN to provide bussing to school. -8 students considered "at risk" have increased their attendance by 1% or more. -Victoria school will develop an attendance team in 2024-2025 to support this work plan. |

Students attended Fall Camp at Madge Lake with Mr. Crane during Wednesdays in October and November. November 2023-Elder visit to discuss traditional medicines such as skunk oil. -Shared opportunity to have the Indigenous Student Success Lead teacher come to Victoria School 2-3 times per week to provide teachings to K-4 students around treaties outcomes and other topics such as Turtle Island, plants. Spring Culture Camp-May 2024 -grade 1-4 classes had an opportunity to go out to Madge Lake to learn from Mr. Crane. -Weekly drumming: Grade 3 & 4 boys had the opportunity to participate in drumming on Wednesdays with Darren. Each group will perform at the Pow Wow on June 19th. |

We were successful at securing CSCH funding, the Breakfast Club of Canada grant and PC "Eat Well, Powerful Minds" grant to support our nutrition program this year. Education Week 2023-Students switched teachers and got to check out another classroom.

By June 2024, Victoria School will survey parents and students to gather input regarding areas of strengths and areas of development for the upcoming school year.

*Graphics are from the data collected from 2024 Our School Survey delivered to grade 4 students. -Students commented liking hot lunches, assemblies on Monday, having friends at school, safety patrol, math, learning and Physical Education. -Areas identified for growth included adding soccer nets (completed), more clubs like art, earth club, eco club, making soccer teams fair-not using the 4 elements teams, updating the playground. -Victoria families were surveyed in the Fall of 2023 to gauge whether they supported Early Dismissals. The majority of families were in support of staff participating in professional development opportunities during early dismissals. -The SCC supported Early dismissals in the Fall and once again for 2024-2025 as noted in the meeting minutes. 2024-2025 Plan: -create a survey for parents |
